MPs confirm vote for amending non-promulgated legal acts

The legislature on September 27 confirmed the vote in favor of amending legal acts providing that the cases and lawsuits could be managed only through the integrated case management system, IPN reports.

The integrated case management system is common for all the courts of law and forms part of the judiciary information system. Its utilization will be mandatory for all the courts of law.

Other provisions refer to the activity of the Judiciary Inspectorate that is an independent specialized body of the Superior Council of Magistracy. This will consist of seven inspectors – judges who will have functional autonomy.

Also, the graduates of the National Institute of Justice will have to pay back the scholarship they received while studying at the institute if they work as judges, prosecutors or hold other public posts for less than three years of the appointment.

The MPs adopted the given amendments on July 19, but President Igor Dodon didn’t promulgate them. Under the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Moldova can send back to Parliament for reexamination a law, if he has objections to it, within two weeks. If the legislative body maintains its decision, the President has to promulgate the law.
