The ruling alliance is to blame not only for the inappropriate management of the situation, but also for the fact that enormous sum of money was stolen from the country’s financial-banking sector. The politicians who have governed the country since 2009 directly took part in the stealing of the US$1billion, while the law enforcement bodies didn’t do their job. Such statements were made by MPs in the December 2 special sitting of Parliament, where the managers of a number of state institutions were questioned about the committed bank frauds, IPN reports.
Communist MP Oleg Reidman said the ruling alliance did nothing to implement the recommendations of the commissions of inquiry that investigated the situation in the banking system. “We, the Communists, often signaled that there were committed violations. We ascertain that the current government not only didn’t cope with the situation in the country, but also didn’t deal with the problems faced in the financial-banking sector,” he stated.
Socialist lawmaker Vladimir Golovatiuc noted that nothing was accidental. “It was an extensive well-thought-out scheme. The banking system had always been an island of stability. It prevented the economy from suffering, but this island was then hit. The goal was banal – somebody wanted to become rich and to have power,” he said.
Lib-Dem Grigore Cobzac said he considers the stealing became possible and nobody was punished because politicians interfered directly in this case. “Why didn’t you intervene earlier? Have you waited for the injured party to denounce himself? Isn’t it strange that the judges allowed a person who gave bribe for particular concessions to stay out of jail? I heard nothing about the whole minibus with documents that was destroyed. I heard no appraisal of the actions taken by the administration of the central bank,” he stated, addressing those who were questioned.
Liberal MP Lilian Carp said the hearings confirmed that the bank frauds were committed by irresponsible politicians who put the own interests above everything. “The managers of the rule of law institutions said they acted in accordance with the law. I ask them why the money was then stolen, while those to blame are not punished. Why is Shor free if the money was stolen with his hands? The Liberal Party will demand that all those involved in the stealing should be held accountable. We will demand that the law enforcement bodies act in accordance with the law,” he stated.
Socialist lawmaker Igor Dodon said the Socialist group prepared draft decisions on the dismissal of a number of chiefs of rule of law institutions that they insisted should be included in the agenda. But Speaker Andrian Candu suggested that these issues should be discussed in the December 3 ordinary sitting of the legislature.
