MPs adopt statement condemning party switching

The MPs unanimously voted in favor of a statement by which they condemn party switching and political corruption, on the initiative of the Democratic parliamentary group. The document condemns party switching actions in the lawmaking body throughout the period of parliamentarianism in Moldova, IPN reports.

Owing to party switching, the sovereign wish of the people expressed in elections is brutally distorted and the management of political migration from outside the country, based on corruption, represents a real threat to national security, runs the statement.

Reading the statement, Democratic MP Alexandru Jizdan said the practices of the MPs who traded in the mandate they received from people are disproved of. Party switching not only directly affects the ethical and moral foundations of society, but also vitiates the political system and processes in the country.

“Dissociating ourselves and condemning corruption, primarily the political one, we declare with overall responsibility that we will never vote a government together with political turncoats. By the Constitution and the country’s law, Parliament is urged to express the people’s will and to counteract any attempt to substitute this sovereign wish with narrow interests of obscure groups,” said Alexanru Jizdan.
