MPs adopt bill to cap state court fees

The court fees will not exceed 25,000 lei in the case of private individuals and 50,000 lei in the case of legal entities. The Ministry of Justice's bill to cap the state court fees was passed by the Parliament in first reading on Tuesday, May 4, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the law on the state tax, the court fees now represent 3% of the value of the disputed property or of the levied sum and the highest amount is not limited. The charge of 3% can constitute exorbitant sums in some of the cases, said Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase. The amendments will take affect after they are passed in second reading and published in the Official Gazette.
