MPs about investing of Grosu Government: Now any Government is better than lack of Government

Representatives of the Democratic Party (PDM) said they will vote for the Cabinet proposed by Igor Grosu as in the current pandemic conditions, any Government is better than the absence of an executive with full powers. The MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) said they will support Igor Grosu’s team in Parliament only if the nominated candidate undertakes to depoliticize the governmental agencies, while the Socialists said that they haven’t yet taken a decision whether to support a Cabinet led by Igor Grosu or not, IPN reports.

The representatives of the PPPDA said that as a result of discussions with the candidate for Prime Minister, they saw that the team led by Igor Grosu is ready to assume governance. The PPPDA MPs noted they will support the Grosu Government conditionally.

“The idea of an anti-crisis Government was formulated by us and we cannot take a step back and say that we will not vote. We will vote conditionally. We want the governmental duties not to be politicized. The government officials should show loyalty not to the party, but to the public interests,” PPPDA MP Igor Munteanu stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

The Socialists said they haven’t yet decided whether to support a Government led by Igor Grosu or not, but expressed their dissatisfaction with the composition of the proposed governmental team that is 99% similar to that suggested by candidate for premiership Natalia Gavrilița.

“These are the same persons as those included in the Gavrilița Government – party members. During the next few days, the party’s Political Exceptive will be convoked and this will recommend the parliamentary group to adopt a particular position,” stated Socialist MP Vasile Bolea.

The Democrats said they will vote for Igor Grosu and his team as the country in the current pandemic conditions cannot be government by an interim executive.

“Their approach shows they do not want this Government to be voted in so that circumstances for the dissolution of Parliament appear. Most probably, we will give a vote of confidence to this Government as we are consistent in actions. We said that the country needs a functional Government and we consider that now any Government is better than the absence of a an executive,” said the leader of the PDM Pavel Filip.

Candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu on March 23 submitted the documents concerning the government program and team to Parliament and is to ask for a vote of confidence from the MPs. The date of the sitting will be set by the legislature’s Standing Bureau.
