MPay celebrates a decade of its launch

The constant and firm commitment to innovation and quality, security and integrity of data made the government e-payment gateway Mpay gain the trust of clients, beneficiaries and to extend cooperation with different institutions and organizations, said the director of the e-Governance Agency Olga Tumuruc. In an anniversary event, Olga Tumuruc noted that today MPay is really one of the most popular electronic services ever developed by the eGov team, IPN reports.

Last year, MPay came to support the Ukrainian refugees by collecting funds. This year, it became the most populate service among young Moldovan beneficiaries who accessed the cultural voucher. Also in 2023, it revolutionized e-payments through the piloting of the salary project to distribute pays to employees working in the public sector through MPay.

The first payment through MPay was made ten years ago, on September 13, 2013. This was a 30 lei tax paid for a crimianl record. By now, over 22.5 billion lei has been collected through MPay and over 37 million transactions have been performed through it.

The service was launched in September 2013 by the e-Governance Agency as part of the Modernization of Government Services project that was implemented by the Government with the support of the World Bank Group. MPay is a modern digital service aimed at facilitating and simplifying the payment processes in the relationships between citizens and government institutions.
