MP Valeriu Munteanu: Government wants journalists with ‘long skirt and short language’

Liberal MP Valeriu Munteanu said that by the regulations approved at the meeting of the Standing Bureau, they are trying to restrict the journalists’ access to the sittings of Parliament. After the meeting, Valeriu Munteanu told the journalists ironically that the new government wants journalists with ‘long skirt and short language’, IPN reports

The MP said he reiterated the Liberals’ request that the journalists should return to the Parliament’s sitting hall, but the Liberal-Democratic, Democratic and Communist MPs opposed. “From my viewpoint, these regulations contain elements that restrict the activity of the media, which is not right in a democratic state. I don’t think it is correct to tell the journalists how to dress,” he stated.

“A journalist must have decent behavior, moral standing and irreproachable apparel while in the Parliament Building,” the lawmaker quoted the legislature’s regulations, saying it’s not normal for a person to stay at the Parliament’s door and to allow the journalists dressed in classical suit to enter and to stop those dressed in jeans from entering.
