MP Svetlana Căpățină died. The information was confirmed for IPN by the head of the Parliament’s Media Relations Service Svetlana Rudenco.

The 52-year-old MP was confirmed with COVID-19.

Svetlana Căpățină entered Parliament on the ticket of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists after the July 11, 2021 parliamentary elections. She was a member of the Parliament’s commission on agriculture and food industry.

Svetlana Căpățină was born on October 2, 1969. She was a teacher by profession and worked for a number of education institutions. Since 2017, she had served as the first secretary of the Party of Communists’ Orhei district committee.
