MP Radu Mudreac of the Communists-Socialists group has been formally accused of money laundering. According to prosecutors, the lawmaker refused to make statements as to the charges brought against him citing health reasons, reserving the right to make statements later.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the criminal case was started in August 2021, at the notification of the National Integrity Authority. As founder and administrator of a limited liability company, Mudreac is accused that, acting in concert with other people, he concluded fake loan agreements for the construction of a commercial building in Chisinau.
On Thursday, Mudreac was stripped of immunity from prosecution by a majority vote in Parliament, as the Communists-Socialists staged a walkout in protest. Before the vote, Mudreac was taken to a hospital, where he is presumed to be to the present moment.
