MP Mihai Godea asks convening extraordinary sitting of Parliament
Unaffiliated lawmaker Mihai Godea, who heads the Democratic Action Party (PAD), requested that the MPs should interrupt their vacation and come together for a special sitting to examine the Transnistrian issue. The request was made following a tragic incident that happened at the trilateral peacekeeping post near Vadul lui Voda, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At the request of the PAD chairman, the first parliamentary sitting of the 2012 session will include a closed-door debate on the Transnistrian issue. Officials of the Government will also take part in the discussions.
According to a press statement from the party, the Moldovan authorities must make effort to ensure the transparency of the investigation and to hold accountable those to blame for Vadim Pisari’s death. The Russian authorities can contribute by arresting those who are suspected of committing the crime and handing the suspects over to the Moldovan authorities. The PAD stresses that the arrogant reaction of the Russian Ambassador Valery Kusmin to the tragic incident is revolting, provoking and offensive to the Moldovan people.
The party considers that this is a reason for the Foreign Ministry of Moldova to take the most determined diplomatic measures. The PAD demands that Russia should present an exact schedule for pulling out its troops in the nearest future and that the composition of a new peacekeeping contingent should be agreed at the talks in the 5+2 format.
Vadim Pisari was wounded fatally from a gun by a Russian officer of the trilateral peacekeeping post No. 9 on January 1. The next day, Russian Ambassador Valery Kuzmin said the young man was drunk and drove a stolen car and he posed a threat to the people. He flagrantly violated the rules of crossing the security zone and ignored the military men’s requests to stop.
