The MP of Șor Party Marina Tauber accuses the authorities of the long lines that form at passport offices in the country and abroad. According to her, the people are very dissatisfied. Owing to the incompetence of those who are in power, the people cannot go on vacation, cannot have business meetings and cannot meet with relatives abroad, IPN reports.
“Besides the crises and problems experienced now in the Republic of Moldova, there is one more problem about which the authorities keep silent. But the people’s dissatisfaction is growing and will soon explode. It goes to the huge lines for obtaining Moldovan passports. As a contract for the supply of blank IDs wasn’t signed on time, the people have to wait for months to schedule an appointment for renewing the documents,” the MP stated in a press briefing.
According to her, a month ago the authorities extended the period of validity of passports and enabled the Moldovans to enter and leave the country with expired papers, but this solution does not really work as only a few countries agreed to accept expired IDs.
Marina Tauber noted the problem of long lines is also witnessed abroad as there are insufficient blank IDs there and the people have to wait for three, four months or even half a year to obtain an appointment to get a new passport. “This is the reward because the diaspora members waited for hours to be able to vote for PAS. Regrettably, the diaspora was abandoned,” stated the MP.
She asked the government if they blame the war in Ukraine, the opposition or the international context for such a situation. She considers the PAS government showed once again that it cannot manage a crisis situation and cannot provide solutions to the existing problems. “As a Member of Parliament, I request the Government and all the responsible bodies to deal with this situation and to offer the Moldovans the possibility of traveling freely there where they need as swiftly as possible,” said Marina Tauber.
