A number of persons are investigated as suspects and two persons were charged in the criminal case concerning Air Moldova. The suspects and the witnesses were questioned and searches were carried out. At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the share capital of the company that privatized the airline was sequestrated, stated vice president of the PPPDA Igor Munteanu, noting he received responses from the PGO over a number of resonant cases, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the party.
According to him, the PGO also investigates the allegedly illegal acts of decision makers of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and other private individuals and legal entities in the case regarding the Bus Terminals and Stations and the sale of the North Station. Documents were seized and witnesses were questioned in these cases.
As regards the case of the Chisinau International Airport, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office has managed a criminal case since October 28, 2014, which was later supplemented with criminal cases started in May 20, 2015, August 2019 and September 2019. Letters rogatory were sent to seven international jurisdictions, but without results. Six public figures, a person holding a public post and a legal entity were indicted.
The MP said more data could not be furnished to him owing to the principle of confidentiality during ongoing investigations. “I will monitor the results of these actions more actively during the next few weeks and I hope justice will be transparent, effective and without public influence on these resonant cases,” stated Igor Munteanu.
