MP Bolea seeks investigation of Maia Sandu’s actions when she served as minister

MP of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists Vasile Bolea intends to file a denouncement to the Prosecutor’s Office with the request to investigate President Maia Sandu’s actions when she served as minister of education. Then she fired an inferior who was reinstated in the post by a court decision and the state paid about 140,000 damages to this. The Socialist heavyweight says this case is similar to that of the suspended prosecutor general Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is accused of ordering to make a redundancy payment to a prosecutor who was under investigation, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, Vasile Bolea said that double standards are applied here. The suspended prosecutor general is accused of abuse of power for offering an unjustified redundancy payment to a prosecutor who tendered his resignation and the case concerning this count was already sent to court, even if the given sum was paid back by that prosecutor. In the case of Maia Sandu, such actions haven’t been taken, but she fired a division head in breach of the legislation when she was minister of education. The inferior went to court and proved that an abuse was committed. By a court decision, the Ministry was obliged to pay about 140,000 lei damages to the division head.

The MP noted he will go to the Prosecutor’s Office because the state in this case was caused damage of hundreds of thousands of lei and this was proven also by the decisions of the Appeals Court and the Supreme Court of Justice.

The presidential administration hasn’t yet commented on these allegations.
