Motivated Constitutional Court decision on June 28 decree will be published in Official Gazette on July 23

The Constitutional Court's verdict on Mihai Ghimpu's decree concerning the day of June 28 is not political, but in strict compliance with the law, the institution's president Dumitru Pulbere told a new conference on July 19. The motivated part of the decision will be published in the July 23 number of the Official Gazette, Info-Prim Neo reports Dumitru Pulbere expressed his indignation at the statements made by politicians and political analysts, who said the Court's decision was political as the court had been influenced by political forces. “I wonder who of the politicians can influence the decision of five judges,” Dumitru Pulbere said. On June 24, Acting President Mihai Ghimpu issued a decree whereby June 28 was declared to be the Soviet Occupation Day. The decree was challenged by the Communists Party and the Constitutional Court annulled it, ruling it is nonconstitutional.
