Fourteen adults suspected of having caught COVID-19 were admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital “Toma Ciorbă” and another eight persons, six of whom are children, are now at the Municipal Clinical Contagious Diseases Children’s Hospital. A mother with three children who had visited Italy were hospitalized the last, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated after the meeting of the National Focal Point on March 11, IPN reports.
“We warned the citizens to refrain from traveling abroad. There is the case of a mother with three children who all went to Milan to make purchases in the period when the situation was rather alarming. How the mother and, in particular the children, are among the persons suspected of being infected with the coronavirus,” the minister stated in a news conference. The woman’s state of health is serious, but improved slightly. She was also diagnosed with other diseases. The children’s state is medium grave.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu noted there is one more mother with a child who visited Italy when COVID-19 was spreading. Doctors took samples from all the suspected persons and the results will be made public in the afternoon. The minister called again on the people not to travel abroad if only in case of emergencies. If they come back, they should stay at home for 14 days and should call the family doctor or the 112 service, if need be.
The state of health of the three patients diagnosed with COVID-19 is medium grave.
Asked about COVID-19 testing services provided by private medical institutions for a charge of about 700 lei, the minister say the people should be very attentive. The authorities also received all kinds of offers, but the tests used at present have been coordinated with the World Health Organizations.
The people are urged to avoid crowded places and to respect the hygiene rules and wash the hands as often as possible and use disinfectants.
