The mother of the two-year-old girl, who was found near the Central Market of Chisinau unsupervised, was identified. The 26-year-old woman was found in the company of persons without a permanent place of dwelling, who abuse alcohol, IPN reports.

According to the Chisinau Police Division, the mother of the girl, who was taken to the police station together with her partner, abuses alcohol. The last time she saw her daughter on June 4-5. The woman said a friend of theirs went to a public canteen together with the girl and didn’t return. She also said that the girl’s biological father is a citizen of the Russian Federation. The woman is expecting a baby from her partner.

The police are to establish all the circumstances of this case and the women’s culpability. The social assistance services will later take a decision as to the minor’s return to the biological family.

After she was found, the girl was taken to the Chisinau placement and rehabilitation center for children of an early age. She was scared, dirty and hungry and had multiple mosquito bites.
