Mother and son suspected of trafficking in human beings

A woman aged 39 and her son of 21 from Vulcanesti village of Nisporeni district are suspected of organizing trafficking in human beings for over six years. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the suspects recruited persons from socially deprived groups and sent them to Russia to beg, Info-Prim Neo reports. As a result of investigations, it was established that the two in the period recruited four persons, including the minor son of one of the victims. The mother and son promised the victims well-paid jobs and helped them to obtain the necessary documents. But in Russia, the victims worked under the young man’s control. The victims were deprived of identification papers and forced to beg on the streets of Rostov region. In the evening, they had to give all the money earned to the young man. Those who hid a part of the sum were beaten brutally. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison over trafficking in children and organization of begging. The police are taking steps to identify all the persons who became victims of the mother and her son.
