As many as 359 out of 13,837 Ukrainian citizens included in the electoral lists of the constituency # 115 in the Balti municipality attended the Sunday parliamentary scrutiny. According to data of the Kiev-based Central Election Commission (CEC), 264 Ukrainians who cast their votes in Balti elected the main opposition party – the Party of Regions headed by Viktor Yanukovich. Another 60 voted for the People’s Opposition Bloc of Natalia Vitrenko, 8 for the Our Ukraine Bloc supported by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, and 4 for the Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko. The adviser for the Ukrainian Embassy to Moldova, Mark Shevchenko, has told Info-Prim Neo that around 1,700 eligible citizens of Ukraine, mostly from the left bank of the Dniester river, have attended the elections at the polling stations # 115 in Balti and # 59 in Chisinau. He noted that there were no violations, while representatives of political parties participating in the parliamentary race and international organisations observed the scrutiny. Data from Chisinau were not published yet. The Ukrainian Embassy to Moldova has delivered the ballot papers of Ukrainian nationals who cast their votes in Balti and Chisinau to the Kiev CEC. According to preliminary data, the main opposition party headed by pro-Russia Viktor Yanukovich has won the Ukrainian elections after the counting of 33.66 percent of votes. The Donetsk region has massively voted for this party – 73.82 percent, followed by Lugansk – 70.8 percent, Dnepropetrovsk – 43.39 percent. The party of Yanukovich garnered 1-2 percent og valid votes in the regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankovsk. This party won about 26.1 percent of votes. The party of former premier Yulia Timoshenko ranked the 2nd place – 23.98 percent of votes, while the party of President Viktor Yushchenko ranked the 3rd spot – 17.71 percent. The Party of Socialists garnered 7.2 percent, Party of Communists – 3.45 percent and the People’s Block of Litvin – 2.73 percent, Bloc of Natalia Vitrenko – 2.15 percent. OSCE and other international organisations that monitored the parliamentary elections in Ukraine said that the scrutiny was democratic.
