Most of precipitation fell in southern and central Moldova

Most of the precipitation the last few days fell in the south and center of the country, district heads and deputy heads told Prime Minister Vlad Filat in a videoconference on January 26. According to their information, all the roads of national importance are passable. Some of the access rods to settlements are blocked, but will be fully cleaned by Sunday morning, Info-Prim Neo reports. The district heads said they have fuel reserves for about 2-3 weeks, for emergences. Several villages are still partially disconnected from the power supply. The eight power stations working on biofuel in Hancesti used up their reserves of pellets. The prices rose and the pellets are no longer available. Vlad Filat said this should be a lesson for the future as they must analyze things first to see if there is enough fuel when building plants working on biofuel. The administration of Ungheni district is concerned about the safety of the barrages built over the Prut, especially when the snow melts. The district’s head Iurie Toma told the Premier that the barrages on the Prut were fortified with their own forces, even if he head that financial resources were allocated from the state ecological fund for fortifying levees. In the southern and central districts, persons without a place to stay were accommodated at social centers and hospitals on a temporary basis. Vlad Filat requested the local authorities to order carrying out checks at the homes of persons who remained without care given the very low temperatures expected.
