Most of Moldovans would vote for PAS and EBCS in parliamentary elections, poll

If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 38.1% of the Moldovans would vote for the PAS, while 21.4% for the EBCS. 13.7% said they would go to vote, but do not know who to vote for, shows the second pre-electoral opinion poll carried out by Watchdog.md and the Institute for Public Policy, which was presented in a news conference at IPN.

Watchdog.md expert Valeriu Paşa said the poll shows that if they had to choose between Moldova’s entry into the European Union and Moldova‘s entry into the Eurasian Union, 59% of those surveyed would pick the EU, while 23.5% − the Eurasian Union. The rest are undecided or refused to respond.

Asked how they would vote in an eventual referendum on Moldova’s union with Romania, 47.3% the respondents said they are against, while 35% said they are for. Asked why they think the Republic of Moldova should unite with Romania, 41.5% of those who answered affirmatively said they want better living conditions, 35.4% said they speak the same language, 35.2% said they have common historical roots, while 31.4% that they are the same nation.

Speaking about the survey results, sociologist Vasile Cantarji said 51.7% of those polled do not intend to get a vaccine, 26.3% intend to get a vaccine if this is one that they trust. Asked what COVID-19 vaccine they think is the best, 26.4% said Sputnik V, 22.2% - Pfizer, while 9.9% - AstraZeneca.

The poll covered a representative sample of 1,104 persons aged 18 and up, except for the inhabitants from the Transnistrian region, and was conducted by mobile and/or landline phone. The margin of sampling error is +3%. The data were collected during June 12 – 19. The questionnaire was compiled in Romanian and Russian and the respondents could choose the variant.

The poll was financed by the European Endowment for Democracy in the framework of the project “Countering disinformation and promoting election integrity”. The project includes a partnership between Watchdog.MD and the Institute for Public Policy as part of which there will be conducted a Public Opinion Barometer at the start of July and one more opinion poll, plus an after-poll survey by phone on the election day, July 11.
