Most of Moldovan tourists choose to spend winter vacation in Romania
The number of Moldovan tourists who decide to spend the vacation abroad has increased by about 30% compared with last winter, but the demand remains low compared with the summer period, when the figure is about three times higher.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the chairman of the National Association of Travel Agencies of Moldova Sebastian Botnari said that in winter Romania remains the most popular destination. This is due to the varied offer of the neighboring country and the reasonable prices.
At the same time, this year the travel agencies reported a decrease in the demand for Egypt. The high prices for Christmas and New Year’s Eve keep the Moldovans away from Ukraine as well. Sebastian Botnari said Ukraine is a much more popular destination in summer, but most of the Moldovans who choose this county for the summer vacation usually do not use the services of travel agencies as they organize their trips themselves.
Sebastian Botnari also said that the Moldovan tourists choose the golden middle when they consider the price of the tourist offer. “The offers with a large number of conveniences are exaggeratedly expensive for Moldovans’ pockets, while the economy pack does not contain sufficient recreational offers,” he stated.
The national offers for New Year’s Eve and Christmas do not hold interest for the Moldovans.
