Most of mayors elected on June 5 are Liberal Democrats
Most of the mayors elected in the first round of the elections on June 5 represent the Liberal Democratic Party – 120. The Communist Party has by five mayors fewer, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Central Election Commission.
A number of 85 elected mayors were fielded by the Democratic Party. The Liberal Party has 27 mayors, the Christian Democratic People’s Party – three mayors, while the Social Democratic Party – only one mayor. Of the independent candidates, 35 became mayors.
As many as 386 mayors were elected in the first round of voting. On June 19, the second round of mayoral elections will take place in 512 settlements, including Chisinau.
