Most of kindergarten educators are aged between 50 and 59

The highest number of educators at kindergartens in 2020 were aged between 50 and 59, representing 27.1% of all the educators. 12.7% were aged 60 and over. The educators of the 30-39 age bracket constituted 24.7%, while those aged between 40 and 49 – 21.2%. Those younger than 30 made up only 14.3%, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 31,300 teaching and non-teaching employees worked at early education institutions in 2020. Of all the employees, 40.6% were administrative and teaching staff, being mostly female.

In rural areas, slightly over half of the teaching staff had higher education, while in urban areas – about three fourth. Of the 12,700 kindergarten educators, 90% had teacher training.

The average ratio of children to educators in kindergartens was 13.1:1, as opposed to 14.6:1 in 2019. This ratio in villages was 13.8:1, while in towns – 12.5:1.

In 2020, early education was organized in 1,485 institutions and 99.0% of these were publicly owned. The number of children registered at early education institutions in 2020 was of 134,200.
