As of May 24, 8am, traffic through most of the border crossing points on the Moldovan-Romanian and Moldovan-Ukrainian segment of the border will be resumed for passengers and freight. Only the Lipcani-Rădăuți Prut border crossing point will remain nonfunctional as the Romanian side will not yet reopen it, IPN reports, with reference to the General Border Police Inspectorate.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and in response to the previous decisions taken by the authorities of the neighboring countries, a number of checkpoints on the border with Romania and Ukraine were closed on March 14, 2020. Currently, only 33 of the 81 frontier posts are accessible to traffic.
Due to the pandemic, a number of restrictions when crossing the border remain in force.
The Customs Service and the Border Police remind the participants in crossborder traffic of the importance and necessity of informing oneself about the conditions of traveling to countries of destination, including the transit, only from official sources.
