Most of Belarusians voted for Valentina Leonenko in Chisinau

Most of the Chisinau-based Belarusian citizens, who participated in the Belarusian elections, voted for Valentina Leonenko on Sept. 28. 263 candidates, of which 70 of the opposition coalition, fought for 100 seats of the Lower Chamber of the Belarusian Parliament. An advisor of the Belarusian Embassy to Chisinau, Dmitry Gorbachov, has told Info-Prim Neo 713 citizens cast their ballots at the Belarusian Consulate. 688 of them opted for Valentina Leonenko, as 25 – for Yuri Krasnopolsky. According to partial results announced by the Counting Committee from Minsk, after counting the ballots in 99 of 110 constituencies, no opposition candidate was elected in the Lower Chamber. The elected represent the ruling authorities. “The partial results allow us to state the Parliament has been formed,” said Lidia Yermokina, the chairwoman of the Electoral Committee, last night.
