MoSEFF gave prizes to the best seven energy efficiency projects in Moldova. The ceremony to hand over the EU EBRD Sustainable Energy Excellence Awards took place at a hotel in Chisinau on February 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Head of the EBRD Office in Chisinau Julia Otto said MoSEFF is the first credit line for the Moldovan enterprises that want to invest in power saving technology and/or in renewable sources of energy. The prize for the best biomass utilization project went to the tomato growing company Agromaxer SRL. The company purchased two boilers working on biomass. The Ungheni-based hotel Vila Verde won the award for the best solar energy project. It invested €280,000 in one of the largest solar power using systems in Moldova, which allows reducing power consumption by 80% and the CO2 emissions by 133 tonnes a year. The award for energy efficiency in industry was given to the brick making company Macon based in Chisinau. Among the awardees are also the juices and cans factory Orhei Vit, the restaurant Butoia, the sugar producer Magt Vest. The prize for energy efficiency in small companies went to a family that runs a food products business – Coloteia SRL. The company took out a loan from MoSEFF to replace the old equipment. Since MoSEFF was launched in February 2010, there were approved 71 projects and many other projects were assessed. Until now, 37 projects were financed by the partner banks, while another 25 projects are close to getting financing.
