The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced early mayoral elections in the village of Morenii Noi, Ungheni district, on November 11, Info-Prim Neo reports. Candidates will be able to register until October 11, inclusive, one month before the election. According to the schedule established by the CEC, the precinct electoral council that will register candidates is to be created until October 1 the latest. Vera Paladiciuc, the village's caretaker mayor, said that during the ordinary local elections in the summer of 2011, there were 817 eligible voters in Morenii Noi, and the majority of them cast votes. Four candidates ran for the post, and the mayor was elected in the first round. Ion Mardari, the mayor elected in June 2011, died together with his wife and 11 other people in a bus crash on August 9, one of the deadliest traffic accidents in recent years.
