More World War II munitions discovered in Moldova
Shells dating from the Second World War had been found in a number of settlements during the last two days.
A 76 mm shell was discovered in a garden in Purcari village of Stefan Voda district during agricultural works. A woman found a grenade in her garden in Larga-Noua village of Cahul district. A 152 mm shell was identified on a filed near Balaban village of Taraclia district, while two 100 mm artillery shells were found in a field not far from Razeni village of Ialoveni district. An F-1 grenade was discovered in a patch in Cetireni village of Ungheni district.
The Soviet-made munitions posed a danger. They have been in the ground since the Second World War, the spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Dorina Cruc has told Info-Prim Neo.
207 shells older than 65 years have been found in Moldova this year.
