The Chisinau Electric Transport Company and the Urban Bus Company on September 1 increased the number of units of transport that run on routes in the capital city. There are now 228 trolleybuses and 122 buses running on routes, IPN reports.
In the September 1 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions, the Chisinau Electric Transport Company’s head Gheorghe Morgoci said that 305 trolleybuses were to be put on routes, but the number of units of transport was reduced following the suspension of route No.5. This route will be restored immediately after the repair works on the rotary on Gagarin Blvd are completed, in the second part of September.
The returns of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company are now higher than last year. “In August, the collected fares were by half a million lei higher than last year. We collected by over 20 million lei more since the start of this year,” stated Gheorghe Morgoci.
The director of the Urban Bus Company Iacob Capcelea said that 122 buses will be running in Chisinau from September 1. Thirty of the buses were rented. “Our revenues remained at the same level as last year. We do not have a growth because the routes remained unchanged,” he stated. On September 25, they will put a Slovak, low-floor bus on a route on a trial basis.
