A weapons-laden truck driven by a French man of Tunisian origin plowed through crowds of Bastille Day revelers in the evening of July 14. The driver barrelled the truck two kilometres through the crowd on the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais. The man then opened fire on the crowd before being shot dead by the police. Weapons and grenades had been discovered after the driver was killed.
