The inhabitants of the Transnistrian region, included in the State Population Register, numbered 371,551 at the end of 2024. The figure is up by 5,019 people compared to the previous year. Of these, 362,325 persons hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, which is an increase of 4,791 citizens, IPN reports.
According to the data provided by the Public Services Agency, 307,726 inhabitants of the Transnistrian region possess identity cards of the Republic of Moldova, and 342,443 hold passports of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova.
Last year, 11,651 people from the Transnistrian region applied for civil status certificates. As a result, 16,746 national-model civil status documents (9,181 certificates and 7,565 duplicates) were issued. Also, with concessions, documents were issued to 3,192 applicants for the identity card of the Republic of Moldova and to 786 applicants for the provisional identity card.
"All these measures reflect the Moldovan authorities’ continuous commitment to facilitate the integration of citizens from the Transnistrian region into the national legal framework and to ensure their access to fundamental rights and services," said the Bureau for Reintegration Policies.
