More than 300 children are out of school
No case of school abandonment has been recorded this year so far, but there are 333 children out of school, Minister of Education Mihail Shleahtitski said in the meeting of the National Council for Child Rights Protection, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The children do not attend the school for different reasons, including because the parents do not allow them to go to school. We are trying to convince them. We are working with the local public authorities as they should become involved in solving this problem,” said the minister.
Mihail Shleahtitski said the schools’ administration and the teachers who neglect the frequent absences of students will face penalties raging from reprimand to firing.
In another development, the minister said 90 education institutions have been reorganized so far within the school reform. The buildings of these institutions haven’t been sold. They were transformed into public libraries or education centers.
Mihail Shleahtitski also said that the Ministry of Education is making effort to fill all the vacancies in schools. “Almost 75% of the young people who graduated from teacher training institutions were sent to work in the country’s districts,” he stated.
If not all the posts of teachers are occupied by young specialists by September 20, there will be invited retired teachers.
