The financial resources allocated for developing new areas and increasing the fertility of the soil in 2014 were increased by 10 million lei following amendments made to the budget law and the retribution of particular allocations and will total 25.4 million lei, IPN reports.
Director of the Land Relations and Cadastre Agency Anatolie Ghilas said that this financing will be enough for 45 of the 109 facilities included earlier in the list that accompanies the 2014 plan of action for implementing the program on the conservation and enhancement of soil fertility for 2014-2015.
By this yearend, there will be drained 621 hectares of excessive wet land. This land will be later used in farming. Technical cultivation works will be performed on another 260 hectares. There will be built eight anti-erosion ponds that will protect settlements from floods and will allow irrigating 520 hectares of farmland.
A total of 750 heaters of farmland will be protected against erosion and 2,000 hectares against floods in 2014. Trees will be panted on 10 hectares of land so as to strengthen the degrading areas.
