Almost 36% of the respondents of the Socio-Political Barometer (SPB) OMNIMAS said that their present economic situation has became “poorer” during the past 12 months. 12% said that it has become “much poorer”. At the same time 23% say that their situation has become “better” and 3% believe their situation has become “a lot better”. Respondents who stayed with the same economical situation were up to 23%. As a comparison, the SPB organized in February 2006, registered nearly 24% of the respondents with an improved economical situation and 31% - whose situation got worse. According to the Barometer, the share of respondents dissatisfied with their life standards amounts to 56%, 20% of them are “completely unsatisfied”. Those “rather satisfied” make up 12% and 1% are those “completely satisfied”. 27% of the respondents were uncertain. The majority of the respondents, about 40%, consider that their life standards are going to remain the same in the next 12 months. Nearly 19% think of it getting worse and about 28% hope to see it improved. At the same time 31% consider that the present Government is better than the previous one. Other 18% believe that the present one is worse and 39% say that it is “the same“. Taking into account the results from 2006, both the share of persons satisfied and unsatisfied of the present government has grew by 3%. The Socio-Political Barometer (SPB) OMNIMAS was conducted between March 14 and 23, on a sample of 1091 persons from Moldova, excluding Transnistria. The margin of error is of 3%.
