During the third Baccalaureate exam on June 16, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) examined another five Baccalaureate centers and discovered numerous violations, including the use of mobile phones, the presence of persons who filled out the papers instead of students and of other persons who sent answers through social networking sites. Most of the irregularities were identified at the Baccalaureate center of “Mihai Viteazul” High School in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari told a news conference that the anticorruption officers inspected three Baccalaureate centers in Briceni district, one center in Chisinau and another one in Cimislia. The inspections were authorized by the judge Bogdan Zumbreanu, head of the General Prosecution Division of the CCCEC, said that they earlier received information that money is collected at “Mihai Viteazul” Lyceum to allow the students to enter the examination halls with mobile phones and to provide them with answers to the papers. “A telephone conversation was intercepted before the exam. A person from the Ministry of Education warned the lyceum’s administration that they will have guests from the CCCEC. However, there were identified irregularities. The person from the Ministry hasn’t been yet identified,” he stated. During the inspections, there were found 50 mobile phones on students and around the lyceum. According to preliminary inquires, the principal’s son answered the exam questions and sent the answers through the Internet to the candidates. In another phone conversation, the lyceum’s administration was informed by a person that a technician from a private guard agency will go to the high school at 12.30 to mount the video recordings of the cameras installed in the examination halls. In Cimislia district, 164 candidates had 75 mobile phones on them. At a teacher’s place, there were found lists with the names of the students, phone numbers and electronic address. The Ministry of Education announced in a communiqué that the papers of the students who cheated in the exam will be annulled, while the heads of the Baccalaureate centers were dismissed.
