More families entitled to compensations for heat
The number of families in the municipality of Chisinau that receive compensations for heat in the 2011-2012 heating season has increased by 500, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the April 24 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Ion Margineanu, the head of the municipal company “Infocom”, said that the number of recipients of such compensations has grown during the last seasons. In 2008- 2009, there were 19,000 families, while in the last heating season already over 37,000 families entitled to such allowances. There were provided compensations to the value of 72 million lei.
Deputy mayor Vlad Cotet said that no large-scale accidents on heating pipes were recorded in the cold season, except for minor accidents that were due to the wear degree of the pipes. The intervention teams dealt with about 2,600 glitches, mainly in the sewerage system. The conservation of heat is an older problem. “A lot of heat is lost because the walls and windows are old. Projects should be implemented to make sure that the heat is kept inside the buildings,” said the deputy mayor.
The 2011-2012 heating season lasted from October 22 until March 19. The kindergartens and children’s hospitals were disconnected from the heat supply on April 17.
