More expensive gas from January
The price of gas for end-users for the first quarter of next year might be by 10% higher, the president of SA Moldovagaz Alexandru Gusev said Monday.
“We have not yet received official information from Gazprom as regards the selling price of the Russian gas. We believe it will be slightly higher than the price for the fourth quarter of this year. We now pay US$270 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas. The new purchase price may be US$290,” Alexandru Gusev said in a meeting.
Asked how the new purchase price of gas will affect the charges for end-users, the president of SA Moldovagaz said this question should be put to the national energy regulator, which sets the charges. However, he anticipated that the price for end-users would increase by 10%.
Moldova's debts to Gazprom, including the debt of Transnistria and the penalties, totals US$2.15 billion. The debt of the users living on the right bank of the Nistru is US$350 million, US$75 million of which for this year.
