An increasing number of young people who want to study at the university show interest in IT. The current admission campaign staged during July 24-31 confirmed this, IPN reports.
Responsible secretary of the admission commission of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) Mircea Bernic said this year the students were interested in specialties in IT, architecture and food technology. “The tendency to study IT augments annually. Five years ago, the building sector specialties were very, popular but now they are no longer so popular, while the popularity of professions in the transport sector remained the same” sated Mircea Bernic. About 2,400 applications were submitted to the UTM this year. The budget-funded places were fully occupied, while the contract-based places were not and a second admission round could be yet held. The results will be announced on August 5.
At the State University of Moldova (USM), the IT specialties are also in demand, alongside law, economic sciences, journalism and foreign languages. Otilia Dandara, pro-rector for teaching activity, has told IPN that the interest in education and exact sciences decreased. About 3,000 applications were filed at the USM this year. The required documents in the original are submitted here until August 4 inclusive. The final results that will provide a clearer picture as regards the filled places will be available on August 7.
At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”, the admission contest attracted 950 candidates, about 750 of whom chose the general medicine specialty, approximately 130 - dentistry and slightly over 50 - pharmacy. Sixteen candidates applied to the new specialty Optometry. Diana Uncuta, responsible secretary of the University’s admission commission, said the results will be published on August 9. The documents in the original can be submitted during August 3-7.
