The monuments of five personalities whose names are borne by five streets in Buiucani district of Chisinau were restored and blessed at the Central Cemetery located on Armeneasca St. The event was staged by the Buiucani district head’s office and several business entities. Contacted by IPN, the head of Buiucani Valeriu Nemerenco said this is a Christian activity.

According to Valeriu Nemerenco, the idea of restoring the monuments appeared two months ago, when it was decided to build a monument in memory of politician and member of the People’s Council Vasile Tantu. Also then, the employees of the district head’s office decided to reconstruct the monuments of other personalities who died and whose monuments are not looked after.

Also, they rebuilt the monument to Emeritus Artist Angela Paduraru, which was destroyed. There were also renovated the monuments to composers Eugen Coca and Stefan Neaga and the monument to writer Alexei Mateevici.

The head of Buiucani district said they plan to organize more activities of the kind.
