Monument to totalitarian communism victims to be erected in Chisinau central square
The Chisinau City Hall on Saturday installed a commemorative stone in the Great National Assembly Square, preceding a monument that will be erected in front of the Government building in commemoration of the victims of Soviet occupation and the totalitarian communist regime, the City hall said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
An ordinance to this effect was issued by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, in conformity with the recent presidential decree declaring June 28 to be the Soviet Occupation Day.
Under the presidential decree, annually on June 28 national flags will fly at half-mast and flower-laying ceremonies will take place across Moldova to commemorate the victims of the totalitarian communist regime.
