The monthly cash benefits paid to persons looking after adopted and foster children will rise from 200 to 450 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The expenses related to the increase in the amount of the guardian’s allowance have been envisaged by the Mid-Term Expenses for 2008-2010. According to the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, extra 15.2 million lei were included in the 2008 budgets of the territorial administrative units of second level, at the section “Insurance and Social Assistance”, to enable the raise. As of January 2007, Moldova was home to 1,072 adopted children and 4,431 foster children.
