The monthly allowance paid by the state to victims of political repressions is to be raised by 400 lei as from September 1 this year. The allowance is now 100 lei a month and was set in 2012, IPN reports.

Under a bill drafted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection that was proposed for public debates on particip.gov.md, the goal is to ensure the additional protection of the rehabilitated victims of political repressions.

The draft law says the rise will contribute to intensifying the social assistance measures for about 8,400 persons who are victims of political repressions. Almost 13 million lei is needed for providing increased allowances to this category of people until this yearend.
