From January 1, 2020, all persons subjected to political repression and subsequently rehabilitated, residing in the Republic of Moldova, will receive a monthly allowance of 500 lei. This is envisaged in the BASS draft, proposed for public consultations, IPN reports.

The extension of the categories of beneficiaries representing the rehabilitated victims of political repression (between 1917-1990) is proposed to be carried out by excluding the conditionality of their being beneficiaries of pension or state allowance in the national social insurance system.

According to the calculations of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection, the list of beneficiaries of the monthly allowance, which in 2018 was increased from 100 lei to 500 lei, will be supplemented with 330 persons who receive a pension from other states.

The number of victims of political repression, residing in the Republic of Moldova, constitutes 9580 persons.
