The rapid formation of a new pro-West government, supported by the pro-European forces in Chisinau, without the Communists, is a matter of urgency for the Republic of Moldova, stated MEP Monica Macovei, quoted by IPN.

In a message released in the evening of October 29, the official’s team says that only the irresponsible politicians can play with the country’s stability that is so necessary for maintaining the European course of the Republic of Moldova. The political stability is above the party and personal interests.

“The MPs of the Democratic Party, which formed part of the Alliance for European Integration and the Government, today voted alongside the Communists and the Socialists for the Government’s fall, implicitly for political instability in Moldova. Is this vote connected with the consultations that the president of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu had in the European Parliament on October 27 with the family of the Party of European Socialists?” asked Monica Macovei.

The Republic of Moldova swiftly needs a pro-European government that would ensure the independence of justice, would not politically divide the executive posts in justice and the prosecution service and would support an impartial anticorruption offensive, including at political level.

The MEP said all those involved in the ‘theft of the billion’ or who benefitted somehow from this money should be investigated, while the money should be confiscated. This should be done by the prosecutors and judges, without the involvement of the political class. Monica Macovei noted that the prosecutors and judges are independent exactly how much they want to be.
