Groups of children from schools and kindergartens will listen to stories told by Moldovan personalities. Two times a month, people of science, doctors, painters, book illustrators, filmmakers and public figures from other fields will read their favorite tales to children. The program “Listen to my favorite tale” was launched by the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” and aims to promote the adults’ involvement in cultivating passion for reading in children. Minister of Culture Monica Babuc was the protagonist of the first reading session, IPN reports.
Monica Babuc chose to read Spiridon Vangheli’s “Parental home”. “Parents should know that there are no more efficient education methods than the own example and bedtime reading. This thing was tested on me in my childhood and on my daughter,” stated the minister.
Vice director of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga” Eugenia Bejan considers this program will encourage grownups to read more to children. Children have a great interest in reading, but sometimes read books that are not appropriate for their age or that do not teach something useful. “Parents should make a selection of good books and should read these to children from early childhood. We should also not be afraid of books that present the reality,” stated Eugenia Bejan.
The readers of the Library “Ion Creanga” most often ask for the books of Hans Christian Andersen, Brothers Grimm and Ion Creanga. Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell are also among the popular books.
