Monica Babuc hopeful Romanian officials will be soon invited to inauguration of monuments

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc, taking part in the official opening of the Palace of Culture in Iasi, voiced hope that the Romanian officials will soon attend the inauguration of the monuments that the Moldovan authorities are renovating with the Romanian grant. The minister was invited to the event by her Romanian counterpart Vlad Alexandrescu, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Culture’s press service, the invitees attended the opening of temporary exhibitions displaying exceptional component parts of the patrimony of the Iasi Palace of Culture and of two itinerant exhibits mounted in Iasi to mark the event - “Antique gold and silver of Romania”, which is an exhibition project of the National Museum of History of Romania to which the National Museum Complex “Moldova” Iasi contributes treasure pieces, and “Arts and ceremonial at royal meals”, staged by the Peles National Museum. “Both Iasi and its Palace of Culture are symbols known not only by the people living here,” Monica Babuc stated during a visit to the Palace of Culture.

The reopening of the Place of Culture is the end goal of the largest operation to restore a historical monument carried out within the governmental program to rehabilitate the historical monuments of Romania. The Palace of Culture is the third monument rehabilitated in Iasi County after the Cuza Palace of Ruginoasa and the National Theater “Vasile Alecsandri”.
