Moldtelecom has signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier (TGC) for the provision of international wholesale voice termination services beginning on November 1.
The Public Property Agency (APP) said in a press release the deal was reached following an extended tender process.
APP director Eugeniu Cozonac said the agreement will benefit both corporate and individual customers of Moldtelecom. “Thanks to this long-term partnership, Moldtelecom will benefit from advantageous commercial conditions for terminating the traffic generated by its subscribers to all international destinations. I am sure this will improve the quality of telephone services. In addition, Moldova’s interconnection with the rest of the world is absolutely important at the corporate level as well”, said Eugeniu Cozonac.
Telekom Deutscheland GmbH will collect voice traffic from the networks of all international operators for Moldtelecom’s fixed and mobile networks, and the company’s costs for international calls will be similar to the interconnection rates offered by international operators. In addition, Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier will provide Freephone International (IFS / UIFN) and anti-fraud services aimed at preventing, identifying and terminating cases of fraud to protect international voice traffic.
“Moldtelecom will benefit from the latest technology and expertise that will significantly reduce risks and help improve the existing offer to provide customers with a better experience, more advantageous offers, thus capitalizing on our potential to be a conscious member of the global community”, said Moldtelecom general manager Viorel Postolachi.
Nicholas Nikrouyan, vice president for Voice & Mobile Solutions at Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, said that due to the fact that voice termination traffic will go through fewer connections the quality of calls will increase significantly. “We look forward to the results of our partnership that will contribute to the growth and development of both companies in the European market”, added Nicholas Nikrouyan.
Telekom Deutscheland is an operator with over 20 years of experience in the international wholesale communications market.
