The television market in Moldova passes through a new modernization stage with the launch of broadband high-definition (HD) television, which ensures a clearer image than the standard-definition (SD) television, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We are glad that we are the first to bring the HD TV to our clients' homes before the winter holidays. We offer a new package of education and recreation TV channels that will make the start of the new year memorable,” Moldtelecom director general Vitalie Iurcu said in a news conference. According to the company's administration, besides the main package, the clients can also choose a HD package that now contains five channels - Discovery Showcase HD, Eurosport HD, Fashion HD, Bebe TV and the local channel Jurnal TV HD. The given channels will be added to the old channels provided in package by Moldtelecom. The given package costs 120 lei a month. The real effect of the HD image will be felt by those who have at home a “HD ready” or “Full HD” TV set. Moldtelecom commercial director Ion Rosca said the sound effects surround Dolby Digital 5.1 are more realistic and are similar to those in movie theaters. The new television service is available from December 7 to all the MaxFiber clients of Moldtelecom, both in Chisinau and in district centers. The representatives of Moldtelecom also said that the number of SD and HD channels will be extended in the near future, but the prices of packages will remain unchanged.
