The saplings needed for the National Greening Day were prepared. The administration of the Forestry Agency Moldsilva made a call to the local public authorities to go to nurseries and take saplings. A sum of 1.5 million was allocated from the Ecological Fund for purchasing saplings this year, IPN reports.
Director of Moldsilva Agency Stefan Chitoroaga told a news conference that in connection with the unfavorable weather conditions, the National Greening Day was transferred from the last Saturday of October to November 15. The sum allocated this year for buying saplings is by almost half a million lei larger.
Moldsilva vice director Fiodor Botnari said the largest part of the money went to purchase saplings for the municipality of Chisinau – 300,000 saplings. “We have 540,000 tall saplings that are 3-4 years of age and 5 million saplings that are 1-2 years of age. It is a sufficient quantity for the greening activities this year,” he stated.
