Moldova’s national volleyball team won its first qualification game for the 2019 European Championship, defeating Montenegro yesterday at the FMF Arena in Ciorescu.
The guests claimed the first two sets (26-24 and 25-19), but Moldova recovered spectacularly and won the next three (25-22, 25-19 and 15-12). In the decisive set, Serghei Predius scored three consecutive points, with a spike, a block and then a block-out, concluding thus the game in a sensational fashion.
In the other game of the group, Slovakia defeated Iceland, 3-0. On August 19, the Moldovan team will play the second game away in Iceland.
